True to its Bold Mantra, Johnny Utah’s Delivers on All Fronts
Mechanical Bull Riding, Country Western Music, Line Dancing,
and The Best Damn Burgers in Town!
(and some slammin’ milkshakes to boot!)

July 6, 2016, South Norwalk, CT:  Among its many incarnations over the years, South Norwalk’s largest (and oldest) restaurant and nightlife locale has once again hit its stride – this time, in the form of Johnny Utah’s, a country western inspired destination straight from the Urban Cowboy movie screen. Spearheaded by the talented management group which operates Stamford’s popular Sign of the Whale rooftop bar and seafood restaurant at Harbor Point, Johnny Utah’s is a one-of-a-kind social hybrid which embraces its inner Blake Shelton, wrapped in cowboy boots, whiskey, BBQ, burgers and brews.

Introduced to the re-emerging township of South Norwalk, CT in the spring of 2014, Johnny Utah’s was the black sheep on the strip right out of the gate. Unfettered and forward thinking, cast and crew revitalized (with more updates in the works) the mammoth space with a mechanical bull as its focal point. Dressed in pure Americana décor, complete with a beer can flag wall, deer antler chandeliers, barnyard wood, and country western tunes which envelope the space, there was soon no denying this country bad boy’s place within the local social scene. Word soon spread of mechanical bull riding and country line dancing which now fills the dance floor on any given Friday night with Cowboy Ron and DJ Bill leading the pack. Naysayers no more, Fairfield County does indeed two-step with the best of them.

Johnny Utah’s Southwestern tavern menu is in keeping with its bold persona. With low-and-slow BBQ at its core, more carnivorous turns include their over the top chicken wings prepared every which way; lightly dusted and deep fried and sauced up buffalo style as mild, medium, hot, really hot, to please stop!; BBQ style with honey, Guinness, Sriracha, house spicy, XXX, garlic parmesan, lemon pepper, teriyaki, or even smothered with peanut butter and jelly and served with a Fluff dipping sauce. “Ride Or Die Wing Challenge” is a beast with 12 wings bathed in Johnny Utah’s special ride or die sauce made with the holy trinity of ghost chili, scotch bonnet and habanero peppers.

In addition to customer favorites such as the Freight Train Fries (hand cut fries topped with cheese, pulled pork, bacon and scallions), Onion Tumbleweeds (thinly sliced onions battered and fried and served with chipotle mayo), hearty pulled pork sandwiches, fish and chips, fried chicken, and those obligatory salads topped with everything but veggies, it’s Johnny Utah’s $5.00 10 ounce grass fed, certified all natural beef burger on a brioche bun that has people talkin’. This juicy, all natural, naked burger can be topped with any number of saucy, cheesy, fried, cold, hot, or even healthy (gasp!) additions for just pennies and dollars. And because that wasn’t enough stuff to do to a burger, the chef decided to sandwich this pristine burger between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches with pulled pork, slab bacon, lettuce, tomato and house made burger sauce, dubbing it The Big Bucking Burger. Enough said.

But is it ever really enough? Along with Johnny’s Utah’s broad selection of domestic beer, barkeeps are mixing up mason jar cocktails such as; Loaded Arnold Palmer (Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and fresh made lemonade with  sugar rim and lemon wedge garnish); The Johnny Utah (Jim Beam Ghost White Whiskey, coconut rum, spiced rum, pineapple and cranberry juice); and Kentucky Breeze (cucumber vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup and soda water).

And for the kids (not really) Johnny Utah’s couldn’t resist paying homage to summertime with their decadent and whimsical Milkshake menu. These $10 sweet and creamy monstrosities are embellished takes on a childhood favorite.
Add $5 for more “spirited” concoctions.
