Healthy Nouveau Mediterranean Cuisine Hidden in Plain Sight
October 20, 2022, Greenwich, CT: In September of 2019, husband and wife team Pierre and Myrna Lahoud introduced Greenwich Flavor by Myrna's, their charming Mediterranean restaurant to the town of Greenwich, adding a vibrant and healthy dining option to the local and eclectic dining scene. After navigating their way through take-out and delivery palooza amid the pandemic, the duo emerged triumphant, reinforcing the need for fresh and healthy food for how people are eating today and a restaurant that can easily be frequented due to Greenwich Flavor’s extensive menu, quality ingredients, and accessible price points.
“We are excited to offer our cuisine in Greenwich, “Says Myrna of her and Pierre’s combined Greek and Lebanese heritage infused throughout the menu, “These are the foods we grew up eating and we prepare them the way we would for our family – from scratch and using the best ingredients we can source.”
No stranger to the restaurant business, Greenwich Flavor by Myrna’s is the third incarnation of the “Myrna’s” brand. Myrna's Mediterranean Bistro on East Main Street in Stamford enjoyed a successful run from 2003-2011. At that time, this style of cuisine was new to the local dining scene, but locals quickly embraced this neighborhood eatery, making it their daily go-to lunch and weekly dinner spot. Myrna’s Kitchen opened soon after the bistro closed, relocating further down East Main Street to a small kitchen space, offering an extension of the bistro’s massive catering and take-out business. Today, Myrna and Pierre are enjoying a new version of their original homey restaurant in the form of Greenwich Flavor by Myrna's.
Located at 148 Mason Street in Greenwich, adjacent to the bustle of Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich Flavor by Myrna's is tucked into a delightful 20-seat eatery complete with refrigerator cases filled with grab-and-go items. Tastefully decorated and welcoming in soft beige tones, additional seating can be enjoyed on Myrna’s lovely patio wrapped in seasonal floral designs and holiday decor.
Menu highlights include an extensive Mezze selection including the best hummus in the county (chickpeas, tahini, and fresh lemon), traditional and quinoa tabouli salad (parsley, tomato, onion, quinoa, fresh mint, fresh lemon, and EVOO), crispy falafel (chickpea and fava bean croquettes), seared halloumi cheese, shrimp Provençal, and beef kibbe (lean beef mixture with bulghur wheat, stuffed with beef tips, onion, and pine nuts). A variety of kebab platters include all-natural, organic chicken and grass-fed beef and lamb served with perfectly grilled vegetables and fluffy rice. Market-fresh fish is simply prepared with lemon and EVOO. Specialties include stuffed squash (koussa) with ground beef, rice, and garlic cooked in a homemade tomato sauce, and hand-rolled grape leaves stuffed with beef, rice, garlic, tomato, and Mediterranean spices, served with yogurt (warak inab). Dessert is not to be skipped as all are homemade, such as Myrna’s sweet, nutty, and flaky baklava. Enjoy this sweet treat with a strong Turkish coffee made to order and with a wisp of cardamom.  A small, curated wine list and beer selections round out the menu.
