At Connecticut’s Premiere Beachfront Location

May 3, 2021, Old Lyme, CT: Kokomo’s Restaurant & Beach Bar, a year-round Caribbean-influenced restaurant and gathering place situated on Soundview Beach in Old Lyme, CT is gearing up for summer! Kokomo’s Owner Brian Cleary, a 30-year foodservice industry professional, opened his resort-style escape in May 2019, transforming the former casual beach bar space into a more elevated experience featuring handcrafted tropical drinks and a creative land and sea menu, all wrapped in a vibrant island atmosphere.

In addition to Cleary’s vision for the restaurant’s innovative food and beverage program, Kokomo’s has added exclusive beach access to their location in the form of Kokomo’s Beach Club, a members-only service that provides ardent beachgoers and vacationers with prime “Koko Beach” access that includes private cabanas, chaise lounge chairs, and concierge amenities from toes-in-the-sand beachside food and beverage service, restaurant dining reservations, members-only mixology and culinary classes, year-round activities, and more. Membership packages start as low as $80 and range from 7-days-a-week access to weekend and weekdays only options. More information: www.kokomosrestaurant.com/beachclub

Kokomo’s Restaurant & Beach Bar, which h is open to the public daily, begins with a welcoming interior dining room and intimate bar with a view of the beach and Kokomo’s lively outdoor dining and bar scene. Set amid a blue and white design aesthetic, the ocean view takes center stage along with Chef Kinsler’s eclectic menu. Born in the Bahamas, Chef Kinsler's kitchen cred includes over 10 years in the Miami, FL restaurant world, including stints at Soul Tavern and River Yacht Club, a culture and professional background which is evident in the restaurant’s Caribbean style approach.

Popular seafood house fare includes raw bar clams, oysters, and shrimp, a classic seafood boil with Maine lobster, beer-battered Atlantic cod fish & chips, Point Judith fried calamari, warm buttery or cool creamy lobster rolls, and New England clam chowder. The menu journeys from house-made fried mozzarella topped with pesto and a variety of chicken wings punched up with sweet chile or bourbon bbq, to more sophisticated dishes such as tuna poke with jalapeno, caviar, and truffle aioli, and ceviche mixto prepared with fresh fish marinated in spicy citrus leche de tigre. Entrées are a virtual culinary tour that includes fish, shrimp, and short rib tacos, a Maryland crab cake sandwich, decadent lobster mac and cheese, Jamaican jerk 1/2 chicken with mango salsa and crispy plantains, porcini crusted ribeye with black garlic sauce, potato gnocchi, and wild mushrooms, linguini and clams, and grilled red snapper with papaya slaw, shishito peppers, sweet plantains, and mango habanero sauce.

Kokomo’s beverage program is equally diverse and creative as its cuisine. Craft cocktails run the gamut from tropical rum punches, mai tais, and a “mezcalita de piña”, to martinis which take their cues from the islands (and the Beach Boys song) including the Bermuda made with Aviation Gin, peach schnapps, orange juice, and grenadine, and the Key Largo shaken with Bacardi Superior Light Rum, sweet vermouth, white creme de cacao, orange curacao, lime juice, and grenadine. Kokomo’s also offers a global curated wine list, suggested wine pairings, and an extensive beer selection.
