Housed in Anthony’s former and beloved Tuscan Oven space (1992-2012), Oak + Almond opened in 2013, taking its culinary cues from the Pirraglia family’s successful West Coast restaurant, Tavola Italian Kitchen, in Novato, CA. The approachable menu consists of handcrafted, simple, flavorful, quality food utilizing local and seasonally sourced ingredients with integrity left intact. Oak + Almond’s cooking practices rely on natural resources, which include talented chefs, open flames, and ingredients that both the customers and the chefs feel good about. The cuisine is matched by an innovative wine program highlighting biodynamic and organic selections and global varietals from Anthony’s stellar wine collection.
Oak + Almond’s organic approach to food is echoed throughout the space. The display kitchen offers an up close and personal view of the open-hearth grill and wood-fired oven. The main dining room features a 16-foot communal table that is crafted from reclaimed oak floorboards. Hand-rubbed walnut tables, sleek Edison light bulb fixtures, and earth-tone colors fill the room. A stone fireplace warms the private dining room, panoramic windows frame the garden room, and a stunning stone patio is accented with flora and an open-air fireplace. Eclectic artwork is just that - whimsical, historical, and intriguing. The overall vibe is city chic with rustic undertones.
The changing, seasonal menu offers consistently fresh fish and seafood, grass-fed beef, house-made pasta, artisan cured meat and cheese, and a vibrant produce repertoire. Currently on the menu: Hamden burrata with roasted peppers, basil, and crostini; funghi flatbread with charred green onion, fontina, and saba; pork and ricotta meatballs with spicy tomato sauce; kale and farro salad with roasted squash, pickled onion, seasonal fruit, and goat cheese; orecchiette pasta with English peas, asparagus, and cherry tomatoes; Oak + Almond’s famous grass-fed hamburger with bacon, gorgonzola dolce, cippolini jam, and hand-cut fries; and wood-roasted branzino with fennel, Brussels, bacon, cherry tomato, and English pea puree. Desserts are sweet and simple, including house-baked cookies, fun gelato flavors, and fruit-based and chocolaty sweet indulgences.
A lively bar scene is infused with top-shelf spirits, creative cocktails, craft beer, and global wine sections.
Oak + Almond is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, with a weekend brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday. Oak + Almond offers multiple private dining options and produces first-rate special events.
