STAMFORD’S FAVORITE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT LAUNCHES NEW FALL MENU

Published November 3rd 2016

Known for its prime location in Stamford’s bustling Harbor Point community, Sign of the Whale celebrates their 2-Year Anniversary this month! The new fall menu produced by Executive Chef Brian Murphy features dishes inspired by the spicy Louisiana bayou, California cuisine, and even those with a French flare. Sign of the Whale’s seafood-driven menu continues to evolve with an eclectic mix of seasonal ingredients and hearty preparations, in addition to customer favorites that can be enjoyed year-round.

Sign of the Whale occupies the largest restaurant space within BLT’s growing development with a capacity of more than 250 on their main level alone, which includes an expansive bar and panoramic views of an active harbor side community. It’s rooftop bar was a huge hit throughout this past spring-summer season.

The now all-day menu features 20 new dishes, more than half of the menu’s offerings, with a vibrant mix of American tavern fare, New England seafood, and global flavor. For starters, new items include; PEI Mussels with chorizo, saffron, and lobster cream; Pork Belly Bao Buns with ponzu hoison and jicama slaw; Blue Crab Spring Rolls and sesame sweet chili; Bourbon Spicy Shrimp with creole bourbon shrimp and rice; and enhancing their wing sauce choices are mole, guaillo pineapple, and chipotle bbq. Lobster Bisque has been added, a soup that the chef is well-known for, made using claw, tail and muscle meat, with a cream sherry accent. The Whale gets their lobsters delivered daily to cook in-house.

Larger bites include; Short Rib Grilled Cheese with onion confit and gruyere, on country white bread; Lobster Roll with yuzu mayo and pickled red cabbage; and Sweet Sausage Pizza with homemade sausage from the Bronx, peppers, onions and hot oil.  Entrées include; Pan Roasted Faroe Island Salmon with wild mushroom risotto and organic spinach; Short Rib with horseradish pomme puree and onion strings; Long Island Duck Breast with a cherry compote and parsnip puree; Gemelli Pasta with sweet sausage, broccoli rabe, fennel confit, and evoo; among others.

Sign of the Whale’s popular Saturday and Sunday brunch menu now includes; Smoked Salmon Benefit, Chicken and Waffles, Raspberry Chambord Pancakes, and Tuscany Eggs in Purgatory, and more. Their continually evolving beverage program offers always-seasonal Sangria, warm-weather concoctions, as well as innovative cold brew coffee cocktails. The Whales over-the-top DIY Bloody Mary Bar and bottomless Mimosas, Bellinis and Kir Royales are another added feature to this fun weekend locale.
