Modern Comfort Cuisine, Creative Cocktails, and Genuine Hospitality

May 10, 2021, Sleepy Hollow, NY: Rooted in hospitality and an innovative American menu, TBoy’s Bistro in Sleepy Hollow NY reopens after a COVID hiatus. Husband and wife team Robert and Denise Horton are thrilled to welcome back their customers and introduce TBoy’s Bistro to a whole new audience.

“It’s been wonderful to physically see people. I got a bit squirrely from missing the guests,” says Denise upon reopening the restaurant, “When you've been doing this as long as Robert and I have, it's hard to just stop. We love and need the human interaction of this hospitality thing called Tboy's. And with post-pandemic progress now being made, I can't wait to hug everyone!”

Robert, a seasoned restaurateur, entered into foodservice as a teenager and went on to be educated through the “school of hard knocks” while working in restaurants throughout Westchester County, including Westchester Country Club. He first made his mark on the industry as the chef of The American Bistro in Mamaroneck in 1984. In 1985, Denise joined the restaurant as a waitress and first met Robert. And the rest is history. In 1992 the duo opened American Bistro in Tuckahoe, quickly earning a reputation for high-quality, imaginative cuisine which continued to evolve with the times and people’s tastes. The restaurant soon outgrew its space and relocated from Marbledale Road to Columbus Avenue in Crestwood, making itself at home in a restaurant three times the size of the original. Robert and Denise enjoyed success with their American Bistro for over 25 years. In May of 2019, a new chapter was written, as they created a more intimate gathering place and restaurant in Sleepy Hollow, Tboy’s Bistro. Named after Denise’s larger-than-life father who embraced the good life, Tboy’s Bistro is an extension of Robert and Denise’s family dining room, where everyone comes together over great food, drink, and conversation.

Tboy’s Bistro exudes warmth and charm from its tiny walk-up entranceway to the restaurant’s tavern-style design aesthetic. Dark wood furnishings with red upholstered seating and an expansive wood-top bar are wrapped in exposed brick walls and gray canvas soundboards. A lovely outdoor patio accommodates up to 16 people. “Tboy” himself watches over the restaurant from the sign out front with his likeness to the large interior photo, illustrating a man enjoying his bliss.

The Bistro’s innovative American cuisine is a comforting combination of fresh ingredients and scratch preparations. Appetizers consist of a vibrant array of flavors from rare tuna sesame wontons topped with spicy red pepper aioli, avocado, and pico de gallo, to beef and chorizo meatballs with crispy shallots and sweet and sour sauce, and spinach and artichoke croquettes with lemon aioli. Entrées feature land and sea favorites such as fusilli tossed with plum tomatoes, prosciutto, crispy chicken, and vodka cream, grilled flat iron steak with roasted portobello mushrooms, gorgonzola butter, and hand-cut fries, and roasted shrimp and seared sea scallops over farro, edamame, and grain mustard scampi sauce.

Vegan and vegetarian dishes are prepared with a father’s love, stemming from Robert and Denise’s daughters’ own food choices, and run the gamut from roasted tomato puff pastry tart with burrata and pesto, BBQ lentil shepherd’s pie with peas, carrots, curry, corn, and mashed potatoes, to mezzi rigatoni with roasted cauliflower, shiitake mushrooms, green onions, parmesan, and truffle. Save room for a creamy tres leches cake with caramel and coconut ice cream or a decadent flourless chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse and chocolate sauce for dessert. Tboy's Catering offers additional custom menus for off-premise meetings, intimate gatherings, and milestone celebrations.

The beverage program is as innovative as the menu, offering various creative cocktails, craft beer, and a curated wine list. Pop in for Dave's Spring Cooler made with prosecco, cranberry juice, simple syrup, and an orange garnish, or spice things up with the Mayhem Margarita shaken with tequila, triple sec, lime and orange juice, and a splash of Tabasco.
