Downtown New Haven Multiplex Will Offer New Movies, Private Rentals In A CinemaSafe® Setting

RIDGEFIELD, CONNECTICUT, August 10, 2021 – Bow Tie Cinemas is pleased to announce that it will open the Criterion Cinemas in New Haven on Friday, August 13.
The Criterion Cinemas will play brand new Hollywood movies starting with Free Guy, Respect, Don’t Breathe 2, The Suicide Squad, Jungle Cruise, and The Green Knight. Upcoming summer blockbusters include Candyman on August 27 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on September 3.
The theater will kick off its opening with a “Welcome Back Weekend” from August 13-15. The weekend celebration will feature a free small popcorn offer (with the purchase of any drink from the stand), as well as automatic entry into Private Movie Party and free ticket raffles (when transacting with your Criterion Club card on tickets and concessions this weekend).
Customers will be able to host a Private Movie Party for up to 30 guests in the comfort of their own auditorium. The private screening is a fun and safe way to return to the movies in a secluded space with friends and family. A Private Movie Party can be easily booked on Bow Tie’s website for as low as $149 (based on availability).

Bow Tie is one of the hundreds of Exhibitors participating in the CinemaSafe® NATO initiative. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bow Tie Cinemas has instituted numerous new policies to keep its customers and employees safe and to comply with applicable guidelines. They include:
- 100% reserved seating in all auditoriums
- Upgrades to the mobile app and lobby kiosks to allow for contact-free purchasing of tickets and concession items
- Installation of plexiglass barriers at box office and concession stand
- Frequent cleaning of touchpoints throughout the day
- Enhancements to overnight professional cleaning
- Indoor mask mandate per the city of New Haven (as of 8/9/21)
