Vergelegen is Popping Up on Wine Lists in New York and New England’s Best Restaurants

January 17, 2022, Westport, CT:  A group of South African friends who now make their home in Fairfield County, Connecticut, got together over Covid to see what they could do collectively as businessmen to further promote the South African Wine Industry in the USA. VClub was formed in 2021 and is comprised of a diverse team of entrepreneurs and business leaders who have now partnered with and made it their mission to support the Vergelegen Wine Estate brand, an exceptional vineyard in the heart of the South African wine region that produces high-quality wines that rival top-rated French, Italian and US wines, but have yet to establish itself in the US market.

“In addition to pooling the unique talents within VClub, and by leveraging our combined business and personal networks, which include expertise in international finance, importing/exporting of goods, marketing, and growing businesses, we started by making these wines available to the US market through VClub's online ordering platform, “says Eugene Havemann, Business Manager, VClub, “ This online platform is the exclusive gateway to Vergelegen’s exquisite wines for connoisseurs in the USA. Our objective with VClub is to ensure that all wine collectors that appreciate the very best wines from France, Italy, and Napa, get an opportunity to complete their wine collections with the very best that South Africa has to offer.”

Situated in the Cape Winelands, a mountainous, biologically diverse area in the south-western corner of the African continent and home to the vast majority of the South African wine industry, the Vergelegen Estate was established in 1700 and is positioned at the foothills of the Helderberg mountains and falls under the designated wine-producing region of Stellenbosch. Known for its stellar red wine production, which is greatly attributed to Vergelegen’s mountain range climate and some of the most ancient viticultural soils in the world, the estate is now producing numerous other varietals that have garnered the attention of vinoculturalists and aficionados. Winemaker André Van Rensburg and Consulting French Winemaker Michel Rolland (who is well respected in the Napa Valley wine region) are proud to have Vergelegen awarded the “2021 Prescient Winery of the Year”, upon a blind tasting by Winemag.co.za who reviewed a total of 990 wines across 20 categories. The Vergelegen Estate is also a renowned travel destination with breathtaking views, lush accommodations, and world-class cuisine.
